Wino Wednesday

I always like a link up and I love wine so when I saw this link up I decided this was a link up for me to join.  I am joining Lindsey at Pink and Fabulous for Wino Wednesday today!

This year I am watching what I eat in an effort to be healthier but that doesn't mean I have eliminated wine.  Last weekend I decided to open up a bottle from Big White House which just happens to be one of my favorite wineries. I might be slightly biased as my cousin in the cellar master at this winery and the owner is a really great guy but it really is delicious wine.

I opened Alfie's Amalgamation which is a blend of Petite Syrah, Syrah and Zinfandel.  This wine went really well with the turkey sweet potato chili I made this weekend. I am  no wine expert but at this point in my life I have tasted enough wine in my life to know what I like.

I think I have enough wine that if California ever had a freak snow storm and I was snowed in I would be fine.  I might have a few more bottles that don't even fit in this cabinet.

If you are ever in the Livermore Valley area (in California) there are a ton of really great wineries including Big White House.  While you can't buy this particular winery's wine in stores if you happen to be in the area I highly recommend that you stop by.  One of the great things about this winery is that all of the labels are copies of paintings done by the wine maker's sister.  This particular wine is named after the wine maker's dog Alfie and while I doubt he tasted the wine (he is a dog after all) I am sure he approves.
Later in the month I will be having my bachelorette weekend in the Paso Robles area and one of our days is dedicated to wine tasting so I am sure I will have lots of wines to choose from next month. Cheers!

  2. I love wine tasting in Paso Robles! My husband and I did that a few years ago when we still lived in CA and it was so laid back and nice! Your cousin has a fantastic job (and is good to know!) Thank you for joining us! xo

  3. Hello from Wino Wednesday. One can never be to prepared for snowstorms or other natural disasters when it comes to wine. If I'm stuck inside, give me my wine and lots of it. CA produces some great wines. Some of my favorites are from there. Glad to see you are well-stocked in the cabinet.
