A Little Shower at Work

When I walked into work a few days before my California wedding I was surprised to see my desk all decorated in shades of purple and white.

My sneaky coworkers even managed to change the background on my computer to purple and white flowers.

There were white balloons with purple ribbons all over the place and they even decorated my pole with purple ribbon.  Gotta give the pole some love!

The common area outside of my cubical was also all decorated in purple and white.  This common area is where we have any sort of smaller celebrations so I knew something must be in the works for later in the day.

I had been wearing a purple sweater the day before so all day people kept telling me if only I had known I could have worn my purple sweater that day instead.  Oh well, I would rather have had the surprise than an outfit that matched the decorations.

There was even a beautiful bouquet of purple flowers to decorate my desk.

Later in the day a delicious spread of food appeared while I was in a meeting.  Cheese and crackers are good at all times of the day.

All celebrations at work involve cake and this one was no different.  The cake was some kind of spice cake and it was delicious.

I have some awesome coworkers who planned this little wedding shower for me and I appreciate all the work that went into it.  I have to go to work everyday so it is always good to get to spend my days with fabulous coworkers.

More wedding posts coming soon but in the mean time:

Oh So Many Wedding Posts Coming Soon!

There are so many things over the last few weeks that I don't want to forget so there will be no shortage of wedding posts coming up.  I wrote about my little shower that my sister in laws threw me last week and had a work shower too.  I am sure there are many pictures of all the events leading up to my wedding and of the wedding day out there on people's cameras (also known as phones) so once I gather them up I will go wedding post crazy.

In the meantime enjoy a preview!

A Little Shower

Last week my two future sister in laws threw me a little bridal shower/bachelorette party thing.  It will come as no surprise that there was a lot of purple involved in this party. I will let the pictures do the talking and won't bore you with too many words this time!

Purple nail polish party favors

Super fun veil and sash for me to wear

As part of getting married I not only gain brother and sister in laws but I get a niece.  Why, yes it is perfectly appropriate that she is holding a box of wine glasses.

All of my local cousins and one of my sisters (the local one) were able to come help me celebrate.  My other sister was missed but I am so glad she is able to come for the main event!

My new sister in laws and niece

Someone knows me well and got me a wine glass with a top and a straw in it.

Super cute placemats to use at the reception

My two wonderful sister-in-laws who threw this wonderful party for me!

Many more wedding related posts to come in the next few weeks!

Stitch Fix #6

Another month, another Stitch Fix box.  Ok, in reality I am a little behind because my next box arrives soon and I am just getting around to talking about my previous ones.

This skirt actually looks kind of cute in this picture but it was made of a very stretchy cheap feeling material. I like the pattern and the cut of the skirt was nice but the fabric was a no go.  I am hoping they will start sending me more natural materials in my next box. This skirt went back.

I loved the color of this blouse and the back had a fun twist to it.  The front of the blouse was a different story.  The way the tie was designed was just awkward.  The tie was only attached to the shirt at the back of the next so anytime I moved the whole thing swayed with me.  This shirt was also sent back.

Again Stitch Fix hit the nail on the head with the color of this dress.  I love the bright blue of the dress and the shape was nice too.  It was comfy and gave me a waist but it was just a little too short in the back for my liking.  It wasn't inappropriately short and I could (and would) have happily worn it outside of work but I decided to send it back since I couldn't quite wear it to work.

This dress was a little bit of a different shape for me but I actually really liked it.  It is a bit hard to tell from the picture (hello phone pictures) but the dark shade is actually navy blue and not black.  It is just a hair tight in the hips but nothing a pair of Spanx can't fix.  I really like the lace details on the sleeve.  It makes an already very feminine dress that much more feminine. Despite the slight tightness in the hips I decided to keep this dress since it wasn't something that I had in my closet.  Spanx for now but hopefully they won't be needed in a few months.

This jacket is also something I don't normally wear.  While it fit and I liked it I decided not to keep it.  I just couldn't justify the price compared to how often I would get to wear it. If I ever find a cheaper version of this jacket somewhere I will definitely consider getting it.

Until next month (which is really next week) I leave you with my review of my box and if you want to sign up feel free to sign up for Stitch Fix.

A Few Thanksgiving Decorations

When Halloween was over this weekend I immediately took down those decorations and switched them out for some Thanksgiving ones.   A lot of my decorating for Thanksgiving just involved getting out the decorations that had been up as Fall decorations before I put up Halloween decorations but there are a few specifically Thanksgiving pieces.

This wooden plaque is one my Target Dollar Spot finds and sums up the meaning of the season so well.

I took away my glittery balls that the candle had been sitting in and replaced them with a more muted acorn filling.  My Halloween decorations were all about spooky sparkles but my Thanksgiving ones are a bit more subtle. It is hard to see in this picture but the acorns are a mix of off white and a bronze color so they go nicely with the more muted tones of the rest of my Thanksgiving decor.

A wire pumpkin, my fall sign and some plastic gourds decorate my TV stand.  I have all these pieces in various locations throughout the fall season.

Another wire pumpkin decorates my bar along with a cute turkey sign.  I can't remember where I got the sign but my oh so versatile wire pumpkins were from my favorite Target Dollar Spot.

I was going to put my gourds back in my wooden bowl but I ended up filling it with what I think is meant to be two wreathes.  There is no rule that says decorations have to be used for one specific purpose and they looked good together so I decided to go with it.

I added a Thanksgiving sign to the wooden wreath that was already on my washer door and called that part of my decorations done!

I don't normally decorate any room besides my living room/dining room/kitchen area (they are all sort of one room) but I had some extra decorations.  I added a few little gourds on my dresses since I didn't need any more in the living room.  I have no shortage of Christmas decorations so I am pretty sure I can decorate all parts of my condo for Christmas too!
Enjoy!

A Day in the Life

Monday November 2nd. My day in pictures.  Nothing terribly exciting or special was going on today but a day in my life nevertheless.

I woke up to a strange sound.  There was water falling from the sky!  What is this thing they call rain?  Ok, that is a bit of exaggeration because I knew the weather report was calling for rain but at this point I never believe we will get rain until I see it fall out of the sky. We really need the rain here in California so I was very happy to see that this time the weatherman had not lied.

This face pretty much sums up how I felt about getting out of bed this morning instead of staying curled up listening to the rain.

Despite it being Monday and me not wanting to get out of bed I got all dressed and ready to head to work.  Ignore the wet hair.  I figured it would be getting wet anyway in the rain so I just threw some product in it and called it good. I didn't have to be too dressed up for work today so I broke out my flowy dress and a black cardigan.  I threw on a belt and comfy scarf to complete my outfit and forgot to wear earrings.  I used to forget earrings all the time but I have gotten really good at remembering them recently so today was the exception.
I really haven't had many occasions to wear my boots, probably since last winter, so I decided rain warranted boots.  I wish I had cute rain boots but my black boots had to due today.

I got to work and was very glad I had worn boots because it was raining quite hard and the parking lot is across the street from my building.

I got into work and hung my coat and umbrella out to dry on the extra chair in my cubicle.

I always have my water bottle sitting on my desk and I fill it at least 2 or 3 times a day.  Always good to stay hydrated.

Not too much on my calendar this week when my day started but by the end of the day I had added a few more meetings.  I am hoping this week will be a bit of a quite one at work but by saying that I have probably jinxed myself. My calendar at work is going to get a lot busier in the future but more on that news in the near future.

Not too bad.  Sometimes that whole thing is full of files and papers that need to be filed away.  I had cleaned it out by the end of the day but forgot to take an after picture.

My fiancee's birthday was a the beginning of October and my sisters bought him a Beer of the Month membership. His first box today and being the wonderful fiancee that he is he shared his beer with me.  We tried the Nut Brown Ale and it was delicious.

I forgot to take a picture of my chili that I ate for dinner but I did manage to snap a picture of it all packed up and ready to take for lunch tomorrow.  Turkey and Three Bean Chili was a perfect meal for a cool rainy evening.

My fiancee had to go pick his sister up from the airport so after dinner I curled up on my couch and watched a few episodes of Chopped while I was waiting for him to get home.

After a little while I put my pajamas and curled up on my bed to read some blogs.

Every year around this time of year Nordstrom gets cute cozy flannel pajamas in for the holidays and I always want to buy half of them.  These are my pick from two years ago but I am looking forward picking out a new pair this year. I will try not to buy every pattern!

My night ended with a candle and some blog writing. Hope your week goes well!
