A Few Pictures of Life Lately with a Toddler

We have a full blown toddler around here at this point. Even though we can't really go too many places due to COVID we have still trying to get out of the house when the weather is not rainy. We have been spending lots of time at a few parks in our neighborhood and sometimes just walking around in our front yard to get our fresh air for the day.

We have been embracing dressing for Valentine's Day with an assortment of dresses and t-shirts. I might have gone a little overboard with the number of outfits but oh well she can still wear them even after Valentine's Day.

On days we can't go outside we have been finding fun thing to do indoors too. She loves playing with water and an assortment of plastic containers. I just use warm water and when she is done we put on dry clothes to ensure she doesn't get cold. She has also mastered getting onto our couch recently and thinks it is so fun to climb up, cover in a blanket, say night night and then pretend to sleep for a few seconds. Sometimes she even puts her stuffed animals to sleep too!

Her toys had kind of taken over our living room so we are attempting to corral them better with this new shelving.

I was quite proud of the cute little Valentine's I made for her to give to her friends at daycare. There are bubbles and a little crayon in each bag!

Friday Favorites

With all the scary stuff going on in the world I have decided to try and focus on the good/positive things are happening around here.

This week was my second week back at work from maternity leave. While my office is very mom/family friendly and has its own lactation room for pumping I was still nervous about going back to work and having to leave my baby girl. A silver lining to all of this sheltering in place is that because I am working from home I am still with my baby. I am home to feed her when she is hungry so I don't have to worry about pumping or using my freezer supply of milk yet.
Working from home with an almost 6 month old is interesting but we are working on her being able to play independently so my husband and I can get some work done but there is a lot of taking turns being in charge of her. She is almost mobile so even when she is playing on the floor someone has to be nearby in case she gets herself into a position she can't get out of or gets near the edge and could hit her head on the floor. We have a play area thing for her ordered and it arrives next week so then she will be a little more safely contained.
Since I am spending so much time in my house I want it to feel happy so I have been buying lots of flowers to brighten up the place.

Since I had been on maternity leave prior to two weeks ago I had already been wearing mostly comfy lounge clothes when I decided to get a couple of new pairs of leggings to wear around the house. Eventually I will be able to wear them to OrangeTheory but for now I am just wearing them on lots and lots of walks around my neighborhood.

Since we will continue to shelter in place here for at least another month I will continue to think all the positive thoughts and dream about taking my baby girl to Disneyland in the fall!

Stitch Fix #35

This month's Stitch Fix box had some very fun things in it and I was hopeful that something would work out but nothing was quite right.  I am trying to only buy things that I really love so I am being extra picky.

The first thing in my box was these super cute Kate Spade multi color stud earrings.  They were so cute that I already own these earrings in multiple colors.  Every year they go on sale during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale so a couple of years I picked up a couple of pairs. I even grabbed a few extra pairs to give as gifts.
This skirt was cute and made my butt look good but because it didn't have a zipper it was hard to put on.  I was afraid that I would tear the seams out shimmying into it every time I wore it so I sent it back.

This dress was super cute and fit really well.  I liked the pink color and the fun flower pattern but I just hated the criss cross X on the neckline of the dress.  If it was just a regular v-neck without the cross I would have definitely kept it.

I really liked this shirt but like many button up shirts it didn't quite fit correctly in the chest.  I could have pinned it so it wouldn't pull or come un-buttoned but I decided it wasn't quite cute enough to warrant all that effort.

The final piece I received was a think t-shirt material cardigan. I wasn't crazy about the color of the elbow patches compared to the rest of the cardigan so I sent it back.  It was comfy but didn't quite hit in the right spot on me.

My next box is scheduled to arrive this week so I am hoping to find something fabulous in it.

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Picks

In case you haven't been on social media recently (since it seems to be all over) the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale started this past Thursday if you are a Nordstrom card holder. Those who don't have a Nordstrom card will have to wait until this Friday but since I have a card I have been doing some shopping.

There are certain things that I know go on sale every year that are a staple part of my wardrobe so I always make sure to budget for those in July.  I always buy a few fun things but I don't go crazy and try to stick to the staples.

My husband always jokes that I buy a years worth of underwear but that really isn't much of a stretch.  My favorite every day underwear are the mid rise Hanky Panky and I always stock up on basically as many as I will need to get me to next year's sale.  I also stocked up on these underwear to wear when I don't feel like wearing thongs. I got a new t-shirt bra and instead of just getting basic nude I decided to also get it in pale pink too.
Another thing I always stock up on are Zella leggings since I wear them all the time.  I love the high waisted cropped leggings with the fun cut out that were part of the sale this year.  I have my eyes on these leggings in navy blue but they must have not made very many of them because they are already sold out.  Pro Tip: If you see something you want at the sale that is sold out just keep checking because sometimes they restock things and other times people return things and if you catch it at the right time you can snag it.

I needed a new pair of jeans so I got this pair. My other pair of jeans I have is the same brand so I am hoping the pair I got are as great as the pair I already have. They didn't have my size left in the store so I had to order them. They should arrive this week so hopefully they fit!

Varsity Knit Shift Dress,
                        Main,
color, Navy- White ComboIn addition to stocking up on some basics I also go a few fun pieces to wear this fall and winter when the weather cools down. I had to order the correct size but I am super excited about this dress and hoping it fits.  It is going to look so cute with ballet flats to work or cute little tennis shoes for running errands. Apparently varsity stripes are having a thing this year because I also picked up this shirt for weekends.

Felicia Glitter Ballet Flat,
                        Main,
color, Rainbow OmbreOne of my favorite purchases from the sale this year is the most fabulous pair of rainbow glitter flats from the kids department.  Another Pro Tip: If you wear a size 7 in woman's shoes you can wear a size 5 in big kids shoes. Kids shoes are much cheaper than adult shoes and often the same styles come in adult and kids sizes. Most kids shoes go up to a size 5 and many actually go up to a size 6 so even if you wear a size 8 in woman's you may be able to wear kids shoes.
I bought a few more things and ordered more so once everything arrives and I decided what I am keeping I will do another post on all much purchases. Happy Shopping!

Stitch Fix #30

My January Stitch Fix box came while my husband was sick so it took me a while to try everything on.

The first thing I tried was this faux wrap dress. In theory wrap dresses should look good on me but they just never do. I like the colors of this one but as usual the chest part just looked awkward on me.

I had asked for some loungewear in this fix so they sent me these black joggers.  While they were probably technically the right size when I wear loungewear I want it to be loose and comfy so I sent these pants back.

This shirt was also sent to me as an option for loungewear. The trouble with oh so many white shirts is that there is a fine line between too see through and too thick. This one ended up on the too think side and even with a nude bra I could see my bra so it went back.

I also asked for some sparkly flats since I pretty much live in flats at work (ok and at home too) and always love sparkly things.  These shoes weren't quite what I was looking for since they were kind of a snake skin pattern. They kind of reminded me of Tieks but less well made.

The fifth item in my box was my favorite and obviously the one I kept. This green jacket is almost identical to a pink jacket I got last year. I wear the pink one so much I decided I could justify getting this one since it was a different color!

Stich Fix #28

It has been a while since I did a review of a Stitch Fix post so here is a quick wrap of of the one I received a couple of months ago.

I was in a wedding a couple of months ago where I got to wear a sari and I wanted to wear gold sandals. I requested a pair and this is what I received. They fit but they didn't feel special or sparkly enough to wear to a wedding so I sent them back.

All summer I had been looking for a comfy pair of shorts so this was one last attempt to find a pair.  I loved the color but they didn't fit quite right so they had to go back too.

Loved this dress but I couldn't wear a bra with this and I didn't want to be limited to always wearing it with sweater so I ended up sending it back.

I also loved this shirt but the back made it so I couldn't wear a bra with it either. The back was the most interesting part and having to always wear a sweater over it kind of defeats the purpose of having an interesting back. I sent this one back too.

This dress was cute but ended up not fitting well and I was going to have to be very careful not to have my bra straps show with this one too. This one went back too.

I didn't end up keeping from my box this month but the colors of the clothing this month were gorgeous.

Stitch Fix #27

When I opened my Stitch Fix box this month I liked the colors I saw so I had high hopes for the clothes in the box.

Another wrap dress that theoretically should have been perfect on me but was not. The color was nice but the top was too loose and low while the bottom half showed every little bump I have. Not a good look so it definitely had to go back.

This dress was cute but a bit too tight on the top so it had to go back.  I am pretty sure even if I lost a it of weight my chest isn't going to shrink.

This high low grey t-shirt fit fine but was nothing special.  The fabric was just a bit too thin for my liking so it too had to go back.

I really sad that these shorts didn't work out because I loved the pattern on them.  They didn't have any sort of zipper or buttons on them so you just had to pull them on.  Once I got them on they fit fine but I can't imagine having to try and yank them on and off every time I had to use the restroom so they had to go back.

Loved the color and the fit of this shirt but with the sheer top and underarms my bra was going to be visible no matter what I did and I can't have that so back it went.

Still a couple more Stitch Fix boxes to catch up on...

Stitch Fix #25

Almost caught up with my Stitch Fix posts! This is my box from last month and my new box only arrived this week so I am not too far behind.

These earrings were cute and nice and lightweight (which is always good for larger earrings) but they didn't seem like anything too special.  I ended up sending them back for this reason.

This royal blue shirt was super comfy and flowey with cute lace sleeves.  I liked that I could wear it untucked with shorts or tucked into a pencil skirt for work. I kept this shirt.

It is a little hard to tell from this picture but this is a dress.  This is actually the back of the dress since that was the more interesting side of the garment.  I liked the color of this dress but the way it draped on me it showed every bump and ripple so I had to send it back.

This is one of those dresses where my first thought when pulling it out of the box was hmmm that is cute but I think it is going to be too short.  I put it on and not only was it too short but it was too tight in the hips and chest so it was an easy decision to send this one back.

This was another piece that had a more interesting back than front.  The shirt draped so that the back was partially open.  I like the idea of this but in reality having to wear a tank top under a shirt meant to be worn in the summer didn't really appeal to me.

As I said earlier my next box just arrived so I will be back soon with one more review to get all caught up on my Stitch Fix posts.  For now if you want your own box head on over to get your own.

Stitch Fix #24

I am a little behind on my Stitch Fix posts ( and blog posts in general) so you may be lucky enough to get two Stitch Fix posts in one week!

The great colors were the first thing I noticed when I opened this box.  I pulled out these teal cropped jeans and while I loved the color I was not super optimistic about them fitting well because pants and I are just not the best of friends.  My fears were justified and they didn't fit well so back they went.

This shirt was cute and would have been cute with a pair of shorts but the way it was so flowey at the bottom made it so I couldn't tuck it into a pencil skirt to wear to work.  I decided it was not special enough to keep so it went back too.

This dress was super cute but the first thing I thought when I pulled it out of the box was ooooh I think that is going to be a little short. The top of the dress fit great but I needed another couple of inches in the skirt to make it appropriate to wear without leggings. I even checked the item description in the box to make sure it wasn't meant to be a tunic but it said dress.

I loved the pattern of this dress it was immediately obvious that this dress was long enough to wear for all sorts of occasions so I was excited to try it on.  The faux wrap to ended up laying all kinds of funny on my chest so this too had to be sent back.

This last piece also had some great colors and a few unique features.  As you can see by the not so good picture of me wearing it I ended up keeping this shirt.  From the front it looks like a fairly standard sleeveless blouse with a fairly high slightly scooped neck.  The back is where it gets interesting so that I what I was trying to take a picture of.  It had a split back that looks super cute with shorts but is also long enough that I can tuck it into a pencil skirt at work and have it look like a regular blouse.

Come back later in the week to see what I got in my next box and in the meantime if you want your own fee free to use this link and happy shopping!
